The seventh day of competition at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Track & Field saw the 2000 Olympic gold medallist in the 100 meter, Maurice Green, show that he is ready to defend his title. Maurice cross the line in 9.91 just ahead of Justin Gatlin in 9.92 and Shawn Crawford in 9.93. Greene, Gatlin and Crawford will make up the US 100 Meter team for Athens. Left off the team will be the current world record holder Tim Montgomery, who finished a disappointing 7th in 10.13.

Sheena will be joined on the 400m hurdle team by Brenda Taylor and Lashinda Demus, who finished 2nd and 3rd. Johnson, Taylor and Lashinda posted the three fastest times of the year for the 400m hurdles and should provide the US with a good chance for medaling in Athens. Johnson is the 2004 & 2003 NCAA D1 400m hurdle champion from UCLA now running for Nike. Demus is the 2004 NCAA 400m hurdle runnerup.
