Day 4
Edmonton,
Canada (08/06/01) - Stacy Dragila the World Record
holder and 2000 Olympic Champion did not dissapoint in
Edmonton on the 4th day of competion. Dragila and Russian
Svetlana both jumped 4.75m a championships record. The
bar was then raised to 4.82, where both vaulters missed
three times. Dragila won having missed fewer times at
the lower heights.
Adam
Goucher ran an excellent race in the 5000, taking the
lead from the beginning and staying in the thick of things
through out the race. As they came around the last turn
Goucher pulled himself into third place to advance to
the final on Friday August 10th. The USA's Nick Rogers
finishes 16th in his heat and fails to qualify for the
final.
In Michigan
news Cadillac native and the former Western Michigan Track
star Phil McMullen finished the first day of the Decathlon
in 17th place. Fruitport native and the 2001 US Steeple
champion Tom Chorny finished 11th place in 8:51.74 in
his heat of the steeple. Chorny's time failed to qualify
him for the finals of the Steeple. The USA 4K XC Champion
and indoor 3000 Champion Tom Broe qualified for the 3K
Steeple final with his time of 8:27.26.
