RM: How has the weather been in your area the past few months? Has it affected your training at all and if so, what changes were needed?JD: Weather has been great. Central Coast is always a
nice place to train.
RM: Have you had training partners for most of your runs and workouts or have you been going solo? Why?JD: Yes, I have a great group of women to train with in SLO. They are great and very supportive.
RM: What workout has given you the most confidence as the trials are almost here?JD: No specific workouts per se, but just the consistent
weeks of good training keep me confident.
RM: What would you say is your greatest strength/advantage going into the trials and why?JD: I think my biggest strength is my strong endurance
base, and my experience of having been to a marathon trials before
RM: What do you think is your biggest weakness going into the trial and what are you doing to limit that weakness?JD: I don't really focus on the weaknesses, just try to
do my best no matter what.
RM: What would it take for you to walk away from the trials happy/content? If you are willing to say, what is your goal for the trials?JD: I'd like to have a positive race, feeling like I ran
smart, competed hard, and stayed mentally focused. I would be happy knowing I accomplished that.
RM: What are your thoughts on racing in Boston? How bid do you think the crowd will be and what do you think the overall atmosphere will be like? JD: Boston is going to be crazy. So many fans there, as
well as the Boston marathon runners the following day. It's going to be great.
RM: What are some of the foods that you just cannot get enough of during this heavy training phase? Are there any foods that you try to avoid during such a heavy training phase?JD: I dont' eat a lot of one specific thing, but in
general, just eat a lot. When in marathon training, it seems like you're always hungry. I don't really avoid any foods during training that I wouldn't avoid when not training. I'm pretty consistent all the
time.
RM: Have you had any setbacks with your training leading up to the trials and if so, what were they and how did you deal with them?JD: Setbacks- no not really.
RM: When do you see your last hard workout heading into the trials being and what will it be? JD: I'll have to ask my coach on this one. I'm not exactly sure.
RM: When will your last long run be heading into the trials and what will it be? How long has your long run been so far?JD: Last long run will probably be at 2wks out, somewhere around 90-100 mins. Longest run has been 24mi.
