Girls Class D Champ!

Akron Fairgrove's only female runner made the most of her individual trip to the 1998 State Cross Country finals, as she used a powerful start and held on for the '98 Class D Girls Title. Tina Petipren, the only girl on her team, finished the 5k Class D race in a time of 19:15 and claimed her first ever State Cross Country Championship and the second for her coach Jerry Lesceski.

This was an amazing accomplishment for a runner who does most of her training alone or with the boy's team. From her coach, there was nothing but praise. "It's just fantastic to go out there and watch her run." Congratulations Tina Petipren of Akron-Fairgrove!
