Boyles Repeats and Rockford Romps! Brooklyn, MI By Dave McCauley & Scott Collins - RunMichigan.com! Katie Boyles of Rochester Adams claimed her second straight Class A Girls Tilte at MIS with a course record time of 17:51.9. The old record was set in 1996 by Shron Van Tuyl of Portage Northern with a time of 17:52.6. Boyles held off a charge of a group of at least 3 Rockford runners for the victory. Rockford's girls team was, in a word, dominant! Rockford finished with an amazing total of only 25 points while dominating most of the top 10. For this team which has been ranked number one for the entire season, this was a culmination of an incredible '98 campaign. "We just had to stay focused, and we all ran great races", commented Emily Blakeslee, the Ram's top finisher on the day. The other members of the winning team were Kalin Toedebuch, Kindsey Blaisdell, Nora Colligan, Jordan Hartmann, Rena Sobie and Amanda Dusendang. In the team competition, behind Rockford was Sterling Hts. Stevenson who finished well back with a total of 95 points. Third went to Ann Arbor Pioneer with 133 and Grand Haven took fourth with 150 points. More to come!! |
