CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL RESULTS
VOL. XXIX No. 3 for
invitationals ending 9/11/04
THE RATINGS::: This is the first
set of ranking for the 2004 season.
Coaches- the ranking are
based on invitationals. Each week
we send a letter to all of the week's invitationals requesting results. Points are awarded according to a teams
finish in the invitational; 10 points for first, 9 for second and so on. Some invitational are weighted because
of the large field and there is a minimun number of teams required.
The ratings are starting a week earlier that previous years. There are over 50 invitationalls by
Labor Day and season started a week earlier. With these two conditions we felt we could make a reasonable
attempt at ranking the teams. As
with the first ranking each year, it is hard to determine the top 10 without
using information from the previous season. As season continues and everybody gets into competition
things begin to shake out. The
girlÕs panel did not feel they could begin the girlÕs rankings this week. They will start next week.
All of the ranking are based on a teamÕs performance in
invitationals. We need to make
sure we receive all of the invitational results.
The numbers in parentheses indicates the first place coach's votes/first
place in invitationals. The final
number is the total number of points for the school, including coaches votes
and invitational points. The
invitational points are cumulative over the entire season, to a maximum of
seven. The coaches vote each week.
