FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROCHESTER, MICHIGAN, TO HOST 5th STOP OF THE

XTERRA AMERICA TOUR FESTIVAL SERIES

Honolulu, HI (June, 28, 2000)…Rochester, Michigan, located 20-miles north of Detroit, will host the fifth stop of the XTERRA America Tour, presented by the award-winning Nissan Xterra, July 15 and 16, at Stony Creek Metropark. The XTERRA America Tour is a series of ten, national lifestyle sports festivals, wrapped around the XTERRA extreme, off-road, triathlon. The XTERRA regional race has been held annually in Michigan since 1997, in Pinckney and Brighton.

Kicking off the festival weekend on Saturday, July 15th, at 9am, is the Adidas 17th Annual Stony Creek Biathlon. The biathlon is a 1-kilometer swim and 5-kilometer trail run. For the running enthusiast, the Adidas XTERRA 5K/10K Trail Run, is a chance to experience XTERRA’S trails. The run is scheduled for 10:30am on Saturday.

Gain confidence through experience on your mountain bike, and enjoy Stony Creek’s fabulous trails at the Michigan Sports & Fitness’ Bike Fest, presented by mtbREVIEW.com. Custom designed for a wide variety of skill levels and ages, including families and the beginner mountain biker, the Bike Fest is an opportunity to really feel comfortable about mountain biking. The Bike Fest begins at 10am on Saturday, July 15th, with a bike check, then you’ll pick up great tips at the mountain bike skills clinic, before setting out on a ride of XTERRA’s bike trails, guided by an experienced XTERRA competitor.

Activities for the outdoor enthusiast and their families will be provided throughout the weekend. Get physical and scale the Yahoo! Climbing wall, just like Spiderman. Children will enjoy XTERRA Jr. - a mini triathlon just for kids. They’ll splash through pools of water, ride a circuit on the bike, and run to the finish. Everyone’s a winner. And, they can make a lei or weave a palm frond at the Hawaii arts & crafts pavilion.

Looking to improve your personal running, mountain biking or swimming skills? Whether you are weekend fun runner or a weekend warrior - check out XTERRA University presented by Paul Mitchell. Covering the basics of the sport — XTERRA U is a free, "how to XTERRA" clinic hosted by four top athletes. It will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 12pm and will cover such topics as goal setting, nutrition, transition, and tips on swimming, mountain biking, and trail running.

There will be an expo, and enough food and drink to satisfy the biggest appetites. All tour goers will have the chance to take an up-close look at the award-winning Nissan Xterra — and receive a certificate good for $50 of Patagonia gear when they test drive the new Nissan Xterra. Enter to win a trip for two to Maui, to see the 2000 XTERRA World Championship, at XTERRA Gear. And, at the Hawaii pavilion, festival-goers can enter to win an adventure trip for two to Molokai Ranch from the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau and Molokai Ranch.

Need a haircut? Look great and feel good about it too. On Sunday, July 16th, a donation to local charity gets you a professional haircut from one of Paul Mitchell’s leading stylists at the Paul Mitchell Cut-a-thon from 10am-2pm.

On Sunday, the action switches to the XTERRA off-road triathlon race series. The Stony Creek course, will provide a unique set of challenges — twisting, forested trails, sand, gravel, and quad-burning uphills. XTERRA, which will start at 10am on Sunday, July 16th, consists of a 1.5-kilometer swim at Baypoint Beach, followed by a 30-kilometer mountain bike, and a 10-kilometer trail run. Competition is for professional and amateur individual athletes, and 2-3 person teams. The XT, presented by MicroSupreme, a half distance XTERRA race, will start at 8am. The XT is
